Chris Ortenburger was born in May 1978 and from an early age, he was very fascinated with speed. Having many relatives in his family involved in the world of motorsport, it was only natural for him to follow. He got involved at the early age of 13, driving a fun-kart around the driveway at break-neck speeds. This was exciting for Chris, but his lust for competition and greater speeds, along with the countless hours of a part time job, led to him buying his first real racing kart. Feel free to email him! Chris’ first couple of years were spent driving the kart, learning its limits; this, according to Chris, paid dividends for him his first season of racing. Chris’s first season of racing saw a lot of potential. In 19 races, he finished in the top 10 all but three races. He had many podium appearences, including three 2nd place finishes. His first victory was one lap away at the California Sate Championships, but the heavy rain caused his clutch to overheat, resulting in a DNF. 1998 will see Chris looking frantically for his first victory. After securing much needed sponsorship, he will be racing in all the International Karting Federation Regional races, including a trip to the prestigious Grand Nationals. Chris will also compete in all the Championship Kart Challenge races as well as many, many club events. With the talent and determination he showed in the 97 season, Chris will soon establish himself as a force to be reckoned with at any race he enters.
