Dirt Track Racing News
After experiencing lots of success in June, the month of July has not been so kind to our local dirt track racers. Brent reports that a rash of wrecks and mechanical problems have significantly reduced the number of top finishes that our locals had last month. Hopefully, the month of August will bring better results.
Go Kart Racing News
Reports are that Cross Anchor Go-Kart Track has drawn some pretty good crowds lately. The track features excellent racing and is a great place to take your family for some good, reasonably priced entertainment. Races are held every Friday night.
Other News & Notes
Henry Turner says that he is working on securing a long term deal to bring the Big Buck GNCC back to Union for several more years. At the present time, the Big Buck is the premier motorsports event in Union County and it would be nice to keep it here for a long time.
Mike Petrie will be making two long trips during the month of August. Mike will be competing in the Torco Race Fuel Northern Nationals the weekend of August 4-6 at the U.S. 131 Motorsports Park in Grand Rapids, Michigan. On August 24-27, Mike will be at Norwalk Raceway Park in Norwalk, Ohio to run in the Skull Shine World Nationals. Lots of luck to Mike in these two events.
Start making your plans now to attend the September meeting on September 5th. Our club will be two years old then and we will need to elect officers for the next two years. We also hope to have some other special activities at this meeting.
Gene Murphy has decided not to seek re-election as a club officer. Scheduling conflicts have kept him away from monthly club meetings and he believes that officers should attend meetings. For this reason, he has decided not to seek re-election. He wishes the UCMA the best in their future efforts in promoting motorsports in Union County.
Remember, we still have club stickers and tags for sale. Small stickers are $2, large stickers are $6, and metal license plates are $8. Contact Mike or Neil for these items.
Thanks again to Brian and Harold Freeman for allowing us to meet at the Jonesville Bingo Center.
HOPE TO SEE YOU AUGUST 1ST!!!! BRING A FRIEND!!!
